Silver River State Park has over 5,000 acres containing 14 distinct plant communities, including Sandhill, Sandpine scrub, Mesic flatwoods, Scrubby flatwoods and nearly 10 miles of river frontage. Silver Springs, a nearby attraction, is the headwater of Silver River that flows into the Oklawaha River on its way to the St. Johns River. No Swimming or Fishing is allowed in the river!

Nature Trails

The "River Trail" is 3/4 mile in length and leads from the parking area to the Silver River. This trail offers an excellent view of the river. Be sure to bring your camera.

"Sink Hole Trail" is a combination of 3 trails totaling 3 1/2 miles. It will take you through mixed forest, hardwood hammock, scrub and sand hill communities. You will find interpretive signs along the trail to help you enjoy your Real Florida. There are benches and picnic tables for you convenience.

Museum

"Silver River Museum & Education Center and Cracker Village" is part of the Marion County School System. This is a partnership between the Florida Park Service and Marion County schools to provide hands on environmental studies. These facilities are open to the public on weekends and holidays from 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m..

Florida state parks are open from 8 a.m. until sundown 365 days a year.

Driving Directions

Silver River State Park is located east of Ocala, 1 mile south of S.R. 40 on S.R. 35.

Park Fees

Entrance fee to the park is $3.25 per carload, maximum of eight people. Extra passengers, pedestrians and bicyclists are $1.00 per person. Cabin fees are $85 plus tax per night for four people and $5 apiece for each additional person up to six people maximum per cabin. Camping and Cabin reservations can be made by calling the Florida State Park Central Reservation System at 1-800-326-3521. The Silver River Museum and Environmental Center is open weekends and holidays. Admission is $2 per person, children under six are free. For other fees, please visit our "Activities" page.
